Public baths have served as places for ordinary people to socialize and relax since the Edo Period. Even today there are 11 public baths in Chuo Ward. The Community Fureai Public Bath event held twice a month provides an opportunity for people in the neighborhood to get to know each other. A public bath offers a feeling of spaciousness not available in a home bath. Everybody is encouraged to try a public bath.
